IELTS sponsors ThinkEducationUSA, an online international student recruitment resource
IELTS, the premier English language proficiency test, is proud to announce their sponsorship of ThinkEducationUSA through its Global Partnership program, extending its reach to potential international students around the world.
ThinkEducationUSA is a new multimedia resource that helps U.S. colleges, universities, and English language programs enroll international students. The program, created by ThinkGlobal Inc., launched officially on October 26, 2009. The website, as well as the globally-distributed companion brochure, is intended to support efforts by the U.S. Departments of Commerce and State to increase international student enrollment at American higher education institutions.
Universities, colleges, and Intensive English language programs can post videos and text profiles, which can be translated affordably into multiple languages, online at www.ThinkEducationUSA.com. The brochure, “Discover Yourself in America,” promotes the U.S. as the ideal study destination for international students. One million copies of the brochure are being distributed around the world this fall at U.S. Department of State EducationUSA Advising Centers, select international study fairs, and various events attended by other partner organizations. The IELTS Global Partnership includes a link to the IELTS test registration page on every page of the ThinkEducationUSA website, and a company profile is included in the brochure.
“ThinkEducationUSA is a welcome new resource for helping U.S. educational institutions compete in an increasingly competitive international student recruitment marketplace,” said James Paul, Education Team Leader and Senior International Trade Specialist for the U.S. Commercial Service, a division of U.S. Department of Commerce. “The aim is to give institutions of all kinds and sizes – from community colleges to graduate and professional schools – an opportunity to attract qualified international students.”
International students are valued by U.S. higher education institutions because they contribute significantly to the diversity of student populations and contribute $17.8 billion to the U.S. economy, according to an October 2009 report by the International Trade Administration.
“IELTS is pleased to support the ThinkEducationUSA program as a global partner,” said Beryl Meiron, Executive Director of IELTS International. “The worldwide reach of this new program complements our own efforts to raise international student awareness of the higher education opportunities in the U.S. and the recognition and use of IELTS scores for matriculation into thousands of U.S. colleges, universities and higher education programs.” IELTS is taken by more than 1.4 million test takers each year and is recognized by more than 2,500 U.S. institutions and 6,000 organizations worldwide.
